The three young men that were charged with rape by a stripper about one year ago have been cleared by the Attorney General Roy Cooper who had taken over the case several weeks ago. So the Duke Rape Case, Scandal, or whatever you callit, is finally over. For us. But for those close to the case, it is not yet over. Anyone who touched the case, seems to have been burned, badly burned. If you think about it, who comes out of this case with a reason to celebrate? Definitely not the accuser. Though she is in part responsible for this debacle, she is now in a most anuntenable position. A college student of limited means and single mother that is working as an exotic dancer that initially attracted widespread sympathy, but the conflicting stories by her undermined her credability almost entirely. The three boys have incurred court bills that have estimated to be over $3 million. The biggest loser of all is DA Mike Nifong. He faces ethics charges from the State Bar on withholding evidence, lying to the court and making inflammatory comments about the case in the media.
