It does not matter what time of day or night it is if you have basic cable, you can take part in the reality TV popularity. A decade ago there were only a few reality TV shows such as Real World, Blind Date and the ever popular challenge shows. Why is America obsessed with this genre of programming? I can honestly say I miss the day of the sitcom. Shows like Seinfeld are few and far between for people that do not have premium cable.

The craziest part about reality TV popularity is how far from reality it actually is. While the people involved are being filmed during different activities scripts are crafted, scenes are edited for drama and production picks actors with a plan in mind. The mind numbing plots and stereotypes of reality TV is killing the once clever dialogues and ideas of scripted television. Far from reality but far from unpopular reality TV is not going anywhere.
